The client commissioned a comprehensive review of its existing workplace and on-site facilities in response to sustained organic growth and the increasing demand for space within the current building footprint. The primary objective was to optimise the available accommodation while creating a contemporary workplace to reflect the company’s culture.
The design brief centred on delivering a flexible, vibrant, and welcoming environment that promotes collaboration, creativity, and knowledge sharing. A variety of working settings were incorporated to support different styles of work, including open collaborative spaces for team interaction, informal breakout areas for meetings and idea generation, and quieter zones that provide opportunities for focused work, reflection, and concentration.
A key driver of the project was the need to increase workstation capacity to accommodate the company’s continued expansion. Through careful space planning and a considered approach to workplace design, the scheme successfully delivers a more efficient and adaptable working environment, enabling the business to support its growing workforce while maintaining a high-quality employee experience. The result is a future-focused workplace that enhances productivity, wellbeing, and collaboration, positioning the business for continued success and growth.
The project presented a number of challenges, with one of the key considerations being the client’s commitment to delivering the completed works to the wider business within a defined time frame. Achieving this required close collaboration with the project architect to interpret the concept designs and develop practical solutions that remained aligned with the original vision. This collaborative approach was instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery of the project.
The works were carried out within a fully occupied and operational building, which required careful planning and coordination throughout. Managing the movement of operatives, materials, and plant around employees working within The Bailey, as well as within the busy external grounds, required a considered approach to ensure activities could be undertaken safely and efficiently while minimising disruption to the day-to-day operation of the business.
To maintain progress and meet programme requirements, some activities were scheduled outside normal working hours. Through proactive site management, effective communication, and close coordination with the client, these challenges were successfully managed, enabling the project to be delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with expectations.
The project was delivered in 14 weeks snag free. The works were undertaken alongside Skipton Building Society colleagues with no disruption to the wider business.
